Thankful for so much!!
Well….today I was going to moan & groan about how I feel bad & how I am wanting to feel better but I am going to save that for another time!! Instead I’d like to tell you all about how grateful & happy I am! Let’s see…first of all I am so grateful that there are people in this world who have total dedication to the medical field. Those doctors at Harborview made rounds at 6:30 am & I saw them again in the evening. Seriously, I doubt they have much of a social life. (a nice nurse told me that many of them spent most times sleeping in a bunk bed at the end of the hall!) Thank goodness some people have that calling. All that schooling, work, long hours, the pecking order. Ugh…not for me! I am so glad My Dr. Sekhar is as skilled & smart & gifted as he is. Driven I guess. I hear that he came to Seattle (UW) to take a professor position. I am happy that he wants to pass on his skills & wisdom. I got the best care at Harborview…..the nurses & all the staff were so professional & nice & really caring. It makes such a difference. Nursing is another field that people have that calling for. It is really evident from the get go!
CLoser to home…I am lucky to have such a great family!! First of all my Philip. We joked that he is the pharmacist. And he is….however he is so much more! Seriously, without complaint, he is my bathroom assistant (I only need help getting to & from fyi) My through the night could I have that guy! He wakes easily enough with a few taps or shakes! Philip pretty much has the right words of encouragement in tough & not so tough times. He also trouble shoots as hair assistant. He has skills in this area oddly enough! Moving on….My Mom & Dad. These two have been unbelievable! I am blessed to have such wonderful parents. Both are encouraging & ready with words of wisdom always. It must be tough on them to be sure! My mom is the absolute best cook & her pureed food beats anyones regular food! SHe is always concerned with my general well being & can fluff the pillows & arrange the bed like no other. Mom is very concerned with my hygene (sp?) My Dad is always jumping up to get a beverage or tissue box. They put him in charge of my walks down the hall…ugh. I whine & complain the whole time. Poor dad. He is not a good one to crack the whip….I am going to walk today & try to not complain! All my sisters & brother have made the trek across the country to seattle. I am lucky to have siblings that I love as both friends &brother & sisters!! My sister Kim & brother-in-law Jim came the weekend before my surgery. They are good company & we were able to see some sights & enjoy Seatlle a little! Kim always has some good words of wisdom & Jim was able to use his switzerland skills & pull out a couple of handyman surprises that kept the stress to a minimum! The day I got out of the hospital my sister Sue came in. Sue helped spread some healthful cheer. She has gone through so much…it is nice to hear…oh britani if I can do it you can. Part cheerleader part exasperation. She was the self appointed beverage lady. I was never thirsty. The day sue went home…my brother joe came in. This brother has a very dry sense of humor. Which I get..I do!! Although, a few times he said I’m joking you know that, right? Funny of course I do. He was in charge of beverages, too! I was a little thirsty at first but he bought me a little bell with the space needle on it….then it was good! (I love that little bell!!) I think he might have been a little relieved when my 2nd surgery was rescheduled after he left. His visit overlapped with my sister Pam’s stay. Pam might not admit it but she really wanted to be here for the first surgery (I was scared to have too many people here at once looking down at me in the hospital bed!) So she timed it right! I know she hated waiting so long to come to see me but it worked out well & she was able to wait on me hand & foot! I feel so blessed to have such a big loving family!
I have received so many cards, well wishes,(from friends & neighbors at home!) and good text messages (from my many nieces & nephews!) Hey can I just say I am really liking that texting thing!
Anyhow….I am thankful for all this & much more! Huge hugs & kisses to my family

I am so glad that you are feeling better. We are all very happy and thankful that everything is going good. Everyone has been so good to you and I am sure that they are all grateful that you are doing well. Even though it may have been hard at first we all knew that you could do it. It is so good to hear from you when you text. I know that at first you got a little frustrated with it, but now I can talk to you all the time. I hope you feel even better soon and keep up the positive outlook on this whole experience. Love you soooooo much!
